Apartment Review for Design Place - Miami, FL

On June 1, 2009 I had to vacate my apartment rented at the design place due to a severe rodent infestation. I had notified the management at the Design Place of said rodent infestation on previous occasions, including a detailed letter mailed and hand delivered to them on November 2008 advising them of the situation. Minor repairs were done here and there, but the situation continued to deteriorate until it became unbearable on early May. I personally went to the management office and explained the situation once again advising them of my urgent need to vacate the property as I could no longer continue living in such conditions. I was told that they would allow me to vacate but would keep my security deposit. In return, I would not be charged for the additional two months remaining on my lease. Hesitantly, I agreed to the same and subsequently confirmed my agreement in writing via a letter which was once again mailed and personally delivered. However, I have recently received a letter from a collection agency retained by the subject property requesting an additional payment of money allegedly owed. Not only did I have to live in substandard conditions, but now I am actually being charged extra for finally abandoning them.
